A classic antique solitaire, likely dating to the eary 1900's, it has a early old european cut diamond that is cut deep, with a small table and large culet, characteristics that make it display the large facets and fiery play of color that we are familiar with in these diamonds, this is one of the nicest examples in this cut that I have found. I also love the 8 prong crown setting, makes the diamond appear larger than it is and holds it securely, this is a very, very fine period setting.
Dimensions: size 6 1/2 and sizeable, head meassures 6mm in diameter, weights 2.26 grams
Marks/metal: marked plat and a slightly faded 18ct mark too, ring has a rich yellow gold shank and a platinum head that holds the diamond
Stones: slightly cushion-y center meassures 5.36x5.1x3.62 mm estimated by formula 0.64ct
